The 2014 regular season concluded… which means it is time for the RPT Super Bowl: The Final Table. Per usual, the RPT Final Table was held at the Original Ross Compound in Oliver Beach. Thanks to Tom Ross Sr. for his awesome hospitality. Also, thanks to “The Matador” John Wilenski for being our dealer. He keeps the action going and everyone on point. Also, an additional thank you to Darryn Graham for helping with the website and actually hosting the site. He helps keep the RPT overhead low which means for RPUs for everyone else.
Our 2014 Final Table had the best players in attendance (and Darryn) to see who would be the Final Table Champion. The Final Table consists of:
1st place: Tony Huckestein
2nd place: Jason Ostendorf
3rd place: Rob Herd Jr.
4th place: Nita Cox
5th place: Brian Ross
6th place: Brandon Smyth
7th place: Rob Schilling
8th place: Angie Brower
9th place: Darryn Graham
The game had some pretty amazing hands that had some huge impacts.
The first player out was Nita in a huge hand with Tony. As you can see below, Tony’s aces held out and Nita went all-in and Tony called after the flop… and just like that, Nita was out.
This will be Nita’s last tournament as her and Wally have moved back to Louisville. They have been consistent and solid players over the last few years and they will be missed. I speak on behalf of all the RPTers when I say that they will be missed and for them to have fun back in Louisville.
Yours truly was the next one out. The poker gods were against me on this day and my last hand was a great example. I had pocket jacks against Tony’s K-9 offsuit. I was basically a 70% favorite… until the first card on the flop… which was a K… and then the second card on the flop… a 9… I now had a 10% chance to win… the rest of the board didnt do anything to help me. And I was out.
I walked away from the table in shame… so there will not be any details to disclose on other big hands. SO… all I can do is give the final results…
Next out was Rob Schilling… Then Rob Herd Jr. was out on the bubble. The rest of the Final Table that received some RPUs:
5th Place: Brandon Smyth – A solid finish to a great year. Look out for him in 2015.
4th Place: Angie Brower – Her first Final Table and a solid finish
3rd Place: Tony Huckestein – The 2014 POY does what he does best: Get into the Top 3.
2nd Place: Darryn Graham – The lucky winner of the 9th seat finishes as the runner up. Solid year for Darryn.
1st Place: Jason Ostendorf – VOLDEMORT… what else do I need to say.
