Welcome to the new RPT.com.  Darryn and I have put a little bit of time into the old website and brought it into the 21st century.  Here are some of the highlights:

  1. WordPress Front End
    • The previous technology we used was Mambo and it is old and busted for content management.  Wordpress is the new hotness and includes all sorts of fun plugins to manage content.  It is all opensource as well so Darryn can do his PHP enhancements.
  2. “RPTDB” mySQL database
    • For the last 7 years, all RPT data was kept in an excel spreadsheet.  We have adapted that data into a database which allows us to produce dynamic queries.  This equals zero upkeep for site functionality other than updating the database every month with the latest results.
  3. Tournament and Player Statistics
    • Check out the Past Player Results and Past Tourney Results under RPT Stats in the header.  There, you will find true awesomeness.  We have provided ways for users to look up a specific tournament from the past or look up all the results of a particular player.  In addition, if you search for the results for a particular player, hit the link that says “click here to display Player Performance Analysis.”  There you will get a report card of the particular player with their career tournament finishes and where that player falls in the career stats.  A wonderful enhancement provided by Darryn and a very cool feature.
  4. Career Leaders
    • Back in the day, I used to put together the career leaders statistics in Excel and post them on the webpage via screenshot.  Now, they are all dynamic and will update as I update the RPTDB.  Check them out and see where you fall in regards to other RPT players.
  5. Current Year Standings
    • This was a bit of a challenge but we were able to make the Current Standings dynamic as well.  Like the other features of the site, as soon as the RPTDB is updated, the current standings will update as well.
  6. It’s Cheap
    • Darryn is hosting this site so I am cutting him $50 a year for hosting services.  This means less expenses for the RPT and more Final Table RPUs for you.

I hope everyone enjoys the new content as much as we have enjoyed making it.  Please shoot me a note if you have any bugs or enhancements you would like to see.  Thanks and we will see you in March.
