Special thanks to EJ for hosting this month’s tourney.  Excellent food and a very open space.  EJ is definitely battling for host of the year honors against long standing favorite Grover.

We had 22 folks come down and I don’t think anyone expected the pure rampage that the Johnson family displayed early on in the tournament.  Of the first 11 people out, 8 of them were removed by someone with the last name of Johnson. If you are scoring at home, that equals 73% of the kills halfway through the tournament.

The first victim of Alex was Vince Powers.  Vince was clear that this is the first ever Beer Bitch finish that he has had and that it will be his last.  Vince performed his duties with a fervor and work ethic that I have never seen from him before.  I would like to point out that though this was indeed Vince’s only Beer Bitch finish in the monthly tournaments…  but Vince was also the Beer Bitch in the 2008 Final Table.  Just sayin’.

When we combined to 2 tables, Alex was the clear chip leader…  and Glenn and Rob apparently bullied the youngster as Alex experienced a turn of fate that has not been seen in quite some time.  Before I know it, Alex is out and Glenn and Rob are sporting much larger stacks.  Bullies.

At the Final Table, the highlights were all Tony.  In the span of 30 minutes, Tony had flopped 2 full houses to knock out a few folks as well as accumulate quite a bit of chips.  When it came to heads up action, Rob and Tony played one hand to see who would get the win and decided to split the pot.  Tony’s won… at least on the coin flip.  After Rob finished as Beer Bitch last month, this second place finish further enhances his volatility metric as a RPT player…  and Rob is quite pleased with that.

This was (technically) Tony’s second win in a row…  thought it will always receive a Maris/Bonds/McGwire-like asterisk as long as I am around.  I have even added a column to the RPTDB to track wins tainted with pot splitting.    Congrats to Tony, Rob, Glenn, and Mr. Tinker for their money finishes.

As far as the Final Table standings, Voldemort is still at the top though is losing some ground to yours truly.  Glenn and Tony are shooting up the standings over the last 2 months.    Overall, there are a lot of people in the running for a spot at the final table and every tournament now becomes more important than ever.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at next month’s event.
